Gladbach ground out their first Bundesliga win in four matches in a 1-0 defeat of Mainz last time out. It was enough to cement their position in fourth place ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt and also draw level on points with third-placed RB Leipzig. Gladbach’s main issue in recent weeks has been scoring - managing only three goals in their last five outings. Belgium international Hazard has failed to score in 2019 - but will be sure of a starting spot against Freiburg. There are no new injury concerns for coach Dieter Hecking - although influential centre-back Matthias Ginter continues to struggle with a thigh injury - so - Tony Jantschke will likely step in once again.
It has been a far brighter period for Christian Streich’s troupe.
